Hi! My name is Mrs Sok, I got married this year (March 11th 2020). I grew up in the U.K. in both England and Wales. I graduated from Cardiff University in Wales in 2012 and this is my 8th year teaching, 2nd in the USA. I am part of the ‘Participate’ teacher exchange program and can’t wait to share my culture with you this year.
Kindergarten is my favorite grade to teach and I am excited to share your child’s first school experiences with them. We are going to have so much fun!
Fun facts about me I’m the second of 4 children. I’m a typical Brit and love tea! Especially green tea. Green is my favorite color. I used to work on a cruise ship. I can speak some Welsh. I love baking, reading and needle felting.
About our classroom
Behavior
We have class morals, not rules, in our classroom. This is because we are working towards building our intrinsic motivation. We use ClassDojo to track how often we are showing each moral, but do not earn points. We are learning to make good choices because it makes us feel good! Not for prizes.
Our class morals We are gentle. We listen. We are kind and helpful. We work hard. We look after property. We are honest.
Class Friends
We have a toy dragon called ‘Dwyn’ who is our travel buddy. If you and your family are taking a weekend trip or doing something exciting after school, such as attending a sports game, we’d love it if you took Dwyn with you and took some pictures. Dwyn has a journal where your child can write, draw or stick pictures of the experience to then share with our class. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0d4dacac2fa2fa7-dwyn
We also have a fairy door in our classroom where our Welsh ‘Tylwyth Teg’ lives. She loves receiving letters and learning more about all the students in our class. Tylwyth Teg are very shy so only come out at night, but she’ll sometimes leave us little clues to let us know she’s been keeping an eye on us.
